Spelling/Vocabulary

In 5th Grade, students alternate studying spelling and vocabulary each week. 

5th Grade uses Vocabulary Workshop Level Blue for Vocabulary.  It is a challenging book that will enhance your child's vocabulary and comprehension. On the vocabulary weeks, a vocabulary test will be given on Friday. 

For spelling, students will use the practice book similar to last year with phonetic spelling lessons and practice. Spelling/Vocabulary tests will rotate each week.  A pretest will be given on Monday mornings of the spelling week.  If the child gets 100% on the pretest they will not be required to take the test on Friday.  They will be required to do all of the spelling and vocab work for the week.  All spelling tests must be done in cursive!
