Mid-Day Recreation

Dear Parents of Kindergarten through Grade 8 students,

 

Our Mid-Day Recreation Program involves all the Kindergarten through Grade 8 parents at Holy Infant School.  These school families are required to share in the responsibility of supervising students during the recess period. This program is vital to the safety and welfare of your children.  Again this year each family is required to perform four duties to ensure that your children are adequately supervised.   It is our preference that you sign up for Mid-Day Recreation duty, but we understand that schedules do not always allow parents this option.   If you are unable to perform Mid-Day Recreation duty, there is an option to buyout of all four  duties for a fee of $120.  

 

Again this year you will be using the online website Signup.com to schedule your four duties.  You will click the link on the right-hand sign to either SIGN UP or BUY OUT. If you choose to buy out, you should send your check for $120 made out to Holy Infant School to the school office by October 4, 2024, or click the link.

 

We ask that you sign up for your four duties as soon as possible.  Because you are allowed to select your dates, we expect you to make every effort to be present for your duties.  If you cannot report on your scheduled date, do not go to Signup.com and delete your name from the schedule.  Our schedule shows who originally signed up, so you will be held responsible.  If you cannot report for your assigned duty, you are free to trade with other parents.  If you cannot report on your assigned day, and cannot find someone to trade with you, you must contact and pay a substitute on your own.  We will provide a Mid-Day Recreation Sub List on our website and you will be responsible for paying your substitute a fee of $30. (Please see section Procedure for Finding a Substitute.) If you do not report for duty and do not fill your assigned duty with a substitute, you will be charged a fine of $60. As before, if your substitute fails to fulfill your duty, you will be responsible for the $60 fine.

Please let Mrs. Collmeyer know if you would like to be on the Sub List by emailing her at [email protected].  We ask that you give serious consideration as to your availability before making this commitment.  While you are not expected to be available every time you are called, we would hope that your schedule is somewhat flexible.  If you know you are only available certain days, please include that information along with the phone number/email address where it is best to reach you.

Procedure for Finding a Substitute 

  • If you cannot arrange a trade with someone and need to hire a substitute, contact someone from the Mid-Day Recreation Sub List and arrange for them to fill your duty. (The Sub List can be found on the school website under the Parents tab/Mid-Day Recreation.) If you find your own sub not listed on the Sub List, they must be a current parent in compliance with the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program.  Please contact the School Office if you have any questions.  
  • You may send in a check for $30 made out to your sub or an envelope containing $30 cash labeled with their name to the School Office.  You are also free to make your own payment arrangements (Venmo, etc.).

Safe Environment Program

You will not be allowed to perform Mid-Day Recreation Duty if you have not completed the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program requirements. These include registering at preventandprotectstl.org, completing a “Protecting God’s Children” class, watching the “Mandated Reporter” and “Code of Conduct” videos, signing the Code of Conduct and running your background check.  If you have previously completed the "Protecting God's Children" requirements you must still complete the above "Prevent and Protect" requirements to be considered in compliance. If you wish to sign up for Mid-Day duty and are not in compliance but are in the process of completing the requirements, please select dates later in the year to ensure that you have been able to complete the compliance requirements.  If your scheduled date arrives and you have not yet met the requirements, you will have to find a substitute.  

 

Remember that if you have elected to buy out, you will need to send your $120 check to the School Office by October 4, 2024, or click the link on the right.  We will have to cancel teacher conferences and hold report cards in October for those students whose parents have not signed up for Mid-Day Recreation Duty or sent in a buyout check.  If you have any questions regarding the Mid-Day Recreation Program, please call Mrs. Collmeyer at 636-227-0802, ext. 2.
