What is a MISSION RAFFLE?
What is a Mission Raffle? Once a month, a designated grade level will donate/collect “candy jars” or small gifts. Then, on mission raffle day, they will visit the classrooms (1st-8th grade only) and sell raffle tickets for 25¢ each. Students can buy as many raffle tickets as they have money for! Then, the host students choose 3 tickets and those children win a prize! It’s all over by 8:15 a.m.
Preschool, Jr-K & Kindergarten don’t take part in the raffle (it can be a little confusing). But they can still find ways to earn money and bring in change to their classroom jar...just like the big kids!*
The Quarters! We set the raffle ticket price at 25¢ because we want the students to create a habit of giving. Our hope is that all month long, your child will earn quarters for the mission raffle by doing chores around the house or neighborhood. Sure, we appreciate it when you give your child a $20! But we really want them to enjoy the good feeling they get when they earn money to help those in need. Some kids are so proud to bring their 3 or 4 quarters that they earned for Mission Raffle!
What a Nice Idea! Our Mission Raffles help people all over the world, and here at home. When we all give a little, it produces a LOT of good! Here are a few ways to carry our Missions program into your home:
- Have a Mission Box in your home for pocket change. (Every classroom has one!)
- Give Mission Raffle quarters as gifts.
- Be ready to donate candy jars when it’s your class’s turn to host MissionRaffle.
Mission work around the world is very important to us at Holy Infant.
The children regularly participate in:
- Daily prayer for missions.
- Monthly Mission Raffles.
- Mission money boxes in every classroom.
- “Special” classroom days that benefit the missions.
Who Does Our Mission Money Go To? Our mission money helps people all around the world…and even those next door! We have contributed to:
⋇ Sisters of Mercy
⋇ St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry
⋇ Holy Childhood Missionary Association …just to name a few!
As always, thank you for your generosity!
